The sniper-biologist - character design

One of the challenges I did for myself there was to create a villaionous type of a character.
I met a lot of obstacles - creating a design for a weapon, understanding how it works, putting every piece together and discovering new ways of a creation method.
But it was an amazing journey. There I put some of my steps while I was following my goal, I hope you enjoy!

1. Started with drawing shapes and images of what I felt in my inner-self. I highlighted for myself, how I want other people to perceive this character and then drew first rough sillhouettes of what my heart told me to do.

2. Same with his rifle.
The rifle was the toughest part, since I didn't know how they worked at the start and didn't have the proper experience in studying weapons and designing them. But it was fun.

3. Drew my ideas and thoughts of how I imagine him to behave.

4. First ideas for a giant flask behind him and ideas of how he is going to carry his stuff around.

9. More of flask studies, but this time together with the front view and how it plays with the sillhouette.

11. Took gothic roses as an insipiration for a flask design. More studies of it.

12. Final studies of a rifle. It was such a wild ride creating it! But I used mainly the idea of a rib cage of a bird while designing it, since the character himself is supposed to resemble a vulture while being in a sniper-position.
